Each September we host our annual Hill Climb on the Stoke Woods hill.
Stoke Woods is north of Exeter, just off the A396 road to Tiverton. The 1.2 mile (1.9km) climb maintains a steady gradient averaging 7% as it winds its way up through the trees.

The sheltered, wide and smooth stretch of tarmac was included in the finale to stage 5 of the 2014 Tour of Britain, where Sky’s David Lopez covered the course in just under four minutes.
The 2024 event took place on the 22nd of September. Report and results can be found here.

Race HQ
Our headquarters for parking and race registration is at the Hilltop Riding School, Exeter EX4 5BN, at the top end of the hill itself.
Refreshments are normally available to purchase via a hot drinks and snacks van.
Parking
Competitors may park at the race HQ.
Please note, however, that vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk. The HQ owner does not take responsibility for any loss or damage occurring while on the HQ site.
Spectator Parking
Please note also that access to the start of the course is along a short stretch of main road and we do not recommend walking this. We would advise spectators to park at the top of the hill and walk down. Parking is available at the top of the hill, opposite the Riding School and 100metres further south-west (towards Exeter), from which it is a very short walk down to the course finish itself.
